Yoga for Better Bones Overview
Several years ago I wrote a short booklet (also called Yoga for Better Bones) with Jayelle Lindsay. Jayelle is a Physiotherapist and Certified Yoga Teacher who completed the MelioGuide Building Better Bones course and developed a Yoga teacher training program on Yoga and osteoporosis. For years I have been wanting to upgrade this booklet into a complete book. Here it is.
The book includes a new chapter dedicated to anatomy and movement as it relates to Yoga. I felt it was important that the reader understand what is happening to their body when they practice certain Yoga poses. In later chapters, I discuss the latest research on Yoga and bone building, provide guidelines on how to have a bone healthy practice, identify popular Yoga poses that should be modified (and show you the modifications), and finally I discuss Yoga poses best avoided by someone with osteoporosis.
