The Government of Ontario, through HealthForcOntario, recently announced that the Allied Health Professional Development Fund (AHPDF) is being offered once again. The funding is available for the period April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012.
Continuing Education Support for Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists
The AHPDF provides financial support for Ontario Physiotherapists (Physical Therapists) and Occupational Therapists who want to further their professional development through continuing education courses and programs. Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists are able to apply for up to $1,500 in financial support for continuing education courses and programs that they complete.
This is good news for Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in Ontario who want to further their professional development and I encourage you to use this resource.
You should also know that the online MelioGuide Building Better Bones continuing education course qualifies for the AHPDF reimbursement.
Complete Your Continuing Education Early
However, you should also realize that the fund is limited in size and that funding for your course expense in not guaranteed. When you complete your course matters. The AHPDF states that first applications are given priority. Applications are processed as they are received.
I have taken continuing education courses in the past and applied for the AHPDF only to find that I did not receive the funds because the funding had been used up. Oh well!
To reduce the probability of this happening to you, you should complete your course and apply early.
This is one of the advantages of the MelioGuide Building Better Bones course. Because it is offered online you can start (and complete) the course early in the AHPDF’s funding cycle – potentially reducing your chances of missing out on the continuing education reimbursement.
