The Forward Lunge is a perfect exercise for osteoporosis of the spine and is part of my MelioGuide Exercise for Better Bones Active Level Strength osteoporosis exercise program.  Both the hips and the spine benefit from this exercise for osteoporosis.

This is one of the many videos that I use when you become a subscriber of the MelioGuide Exercise for Better Bones Program.

In this video, I demonstrate proper technique.

Hi again. I’m wondering why opt for a forward lunge when a back lunge is generally easier for clients to execute? I describe it as a ‘curtsy for the queen’ and they seem to remember this exercise better. I would also suggest cueing to keep the knee behind the toe during the flexion portion of the exercise. I am referring clients to this website so it matters to me that I am clear on all of your recommendations.

Hello Brenda. Glad you liked the baby posture video. She was the baby of one of my clients who happened to be working on her own posture at the time…
As for the lunge, the reason I introduce the forward lunge is that it is much more functional. We move into a forward lunge when shoveling and vacuuming with good body mechanics. Generally we reach for items in front of us and so we go into a forward lunge when picking up or putting down items from/onto the floor. It is an alternative to the squat. Finally, the forward lunge imitates the movement pattern that many persons use when getting up from the floor. You will see extra tips under your pro account – thank you for your support.. Hope this helps. Keep them moving! Margaret
